11.3.2 Setting up the partitions in Windows Embedded Standard 7
Set up the hard disk partitions again after having installed a new hard disk, or to repair faulty
partitions, or to change the partitioning.
Partitioning the CompactFlash card
For the Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system, the following default partitions
are set up on the CompactFlash card:
Card size Partition Name
4 GB 8 GB
File system
1. Partition SYSTEM 3690 MB 6150 MB NTFS (compressed)
2. Partition DATA Remainder * Remainder * NTFS (compressed)
* Due to partitioning/formatting, the actual CompactFlash capacity does not correspond to
the memory size specified on the CF card.
Partitioning the hard disk
For the Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system, the following default partitions
are set up on the hard disk:
Partition Name Size File system
1. Partition SYSTEM 25 GB NTFS (not compressed)
2. Partition DATA Remainder NTFS (not compressed)
Partitioning the SSD
For the Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating system, the following default partitions
are set up on the SSD:
Partition Name Size File system
1. Partition SYSTEM 25 GB NTFS (not compressed)
2. Partition DATA Remainder NTFS (not compressed)
To restore the partition to factory state, it is recommended to use the software tool
SIMATIC IPC Image & Partition Creator. For more information about the tool, refer to the
manufacturer documentation.
