4.1.5 The Motherboard
The motherboard is the heart of the Rack PC. Here, data is processed and stored,
and interfaces and device I/Os are controlled and managed. You will find a detailed
description of the motherboard in the technical manual D1527.pdf on the CD
supplied “Rack PC IL 40 S Documentation and Drivers”.
4.2 Installing Memory Expansion Submodules
There two slots for the memory module on the motherboard. With these slots, you
can expand the memory of the Rack PC to 2 Gbytes .
You will find detailed description of the memory expansions possibilities in the
technical manual D1527.pdf on the CD supplied “Rack PC IL 40 S Documentation
and Drivers”.
4.3 Replacing the Backup Battery
Battery Power Supply for Real-Time Clock and Configuration
A backup battery powers the the real-time clock even after the Rack PC is
switched off. In addition to the time of day, all the information about the Rack PC
(device configuration) is stored in RAM. If the backup battery fails or is removed,
all these data are lost.
The position of the backup battery on the motherboard and how to replace it is
described in the System Module technical manual D1527.pdf on the CD supplied
“Rack PC IL 40 S Documentation and Drivers”.
Caution
Risk of damage!
Only replace the lithium battery with an identical battery or with a type
recommended by the manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries in keeping with local regulations.
Changing SETUP
If you change the battery or unplug the battery connector you must run the
BIOS-SETUP to reset your programming device configuration data.
